Project Requirements for This 450 GSM Hoodie
The development brief called for a premium streetwear hoodie with more structure and visual depth than a standard fleece hoodie. The garment needed to combine a substantial 450 GSM fabric weight with an oversized silhouette, vintage washed finish, and distressed front graphic.
The main challenge was that these requirements affect each other. Heavy fabric changes the way the garment drapes, garment washing can influence shrinkage and color consistency, and distressed printing needs to remain visually balanced after finishing.

Maintaining Structure After Heavy Garment Washing
Heavyweight hoodies require strong fabric structure to achieve a premium oversized silhouette. However, washing treatments can influence fabric shrinkage, surface appearance and final garment measurements.
Fabric Testing & Pre-Shrink Control
We selected wash-compatible heavyweight cotton fleece and evaluated fabric behavior before production. Through pre-shrinking, measurement control and sample approval, we adjusted the pattern and washing parameters to maintain the intended oversized shape and consistent sizing after finishing.
Creating a Controlled Vintage Washed Effect
Vintage streetwear hoodies require natural fading and worn-in character, but uncontrolled washing can create uneven color variation or affect garment stability. The challenge was achieving an authentic aged appearance while keeping the overall garment quality consistent.
